Introduction
This manual shows you how to install a pre-release.
Before releasing a new version to the market, we test the application with our gold partners and some developers of our user pool. We call it a beta test. If the system passes the tests then we do a pre-release. This pre-release installs like a 'real' release, once installed, you don't see the differences. As soon as the 'real' release is released, then you can install this as an upgrade.
As of version 3.0 the install procedure has changed. First of all, the install has become more modular. It allows us to make partial install of modules more easy. For instance, if there is a new release of a certain PHP version, we can deploy that without the full deploy as you might have been used to.
Second, you can install each release as a separate folder. PHsPeed does not require any dependencies on your user folder, nor registry. Therefore PHsPeed does not install an uninstaller, you can simply remove the main folder. You don't need to go the remove applications sections of your Windows environment.
Third, because of this, it is easy to make a backup of your install. It is still possible to revert to older releases, but we do not keep all history versions for download anymore. If you decide to quit PHsPeed, then you have to fall back on your backups once your version becomes too old.
Finally, you require the latest version of the installer, that is able to install 3.0. This download is only available to customers or selected (potential) customers, who will have received a link. If you are not a customer, then you have to use the standard download from our website. If you would like to evaluate the pre-release then contact us on support at phspeed dot com.
